It’s so crazy to me that just about this time last year Sheridan and I were both pregnant and taking her maternity photos! I just love this family so much and can’t believe how fast time has flown. Honestly, my mind is blown. Seriously. How is she all but walking right now!?
Before you have a kid, everyone will tell you to slow down and enjoy it because time passes so quickly and they grow up so fast. I for one just nodded and agreed as if I had a morsel of a clue. “Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Time passes quickly, got it. Enjoy the little things, I know, I know. Now feed me more hot dogs and chocolate milk and tell me I look pretty.”
But seeing it firsthand, both with little Ella and my own daughter, I could honestly go back and take myself by the shoulders and just shake shake shake. “No, you don’t know!”
I loved photography before, but now I love it. (You know?) I used to “know” we were out there capturing fleeting memories and all those warm and fuzzy photographer sayings. But now it really hits home and I deeply understand that these moments – big and small – truly are that fleeting and that special.
Being able to transform them into something tangible, something to reflect on and pass on, something that becomes a piece of each of our legacies… Honestly, what a precious honor that is.
